Enhanced Recovery After Surgery / Trauma
ERAS® stands for Enhanced Recovery After Surgery.
What is it about?
Implemented in Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru since 2017, ERAS® is an evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach that aims to improve recovery. This is done through strategies before, during and after surgery. Some of the key strategies will also help you identify how you can better recover after trauma as well.
The key aspects are planning and preparation before admission (including improving your nutrition and physical fitness before surgery); reducing the physical stress of the operation; a structured approach to the management during your hospital stay (including pain relief and early nutrition); and getting you moving as soon as possible.
